In the spring of 2019 the Resale Boutique was in its first year when Katie Popp, a recent hire as a space systems engineer at Lockheed Martin, wandered in.  “I was new to the area and decided to explore the town.  I wandered into the boutique….and the rest was history.”

Katie is one of the unique volunteers who has a full time job yet finds time to volunteer several times a month when she’s not traveling for work.  As a team lead she is on call 24/7 (all the time!) . She has not only designed, tested, and installed various pieces of equipment for space satellites; she has been available on site for various space launches.

First a shopper, then helper, then official volunteer, Katie explained her long-term relationship with the boutique. “I always loved haunting thrift stores and found the boutique to be unique because it isn’t typical. “ Part of the draw is that it doesn’t have the atmosphere of a thrift store.  More importantly, “It is my community in the mountains.  I’ve made some really good friends and look forward to spending time with everyone.”

As a certified principal engineer, Katie has many certifications in unique systems.  She has also been active in Park County Sheriff Search and Rescue, Flight4Life, and the American Heart Association.

She loves the mountains, “I suffer withdrawal if I’m away too long.”

So glad she found Bailey.  So glad she wandered in and found the boutique.
