Celebrating 10 Years of PCCP Resale Boutique

In July 2016, six community-minded individuals gathered around a dining room table with an idea.

They imagined a nonprofit that could serve the Platte Canyon community along the Highway 285 corridor, from Shawnee to Conifer, in a practical, meaningful, and sustainable way. They wanted to create something rooted in partnership, powered by volunteers, and dedicated to strengthening the mountain community we all call home.

That idea became Platte Canyon Community Partnership Resale Boutique.

Now, as PCCP Resale Boutique celebrates its 10th birthday, we are proud to look back on a decade of generosity, service, connection, and community impact.

A Grassroots Beginning

PCCP began with a simple but powerful purpose: to promote community partnerships through financial distributions, primarily through the Resale Boutique and the expertise of its volunteers.

From the beginning, the Boutique was designed to be more than a place to shop. It was created as a way to bring donated goods, volunteer time, local nonprofit partnerships, and community support together under one mission.

When the Resale Boutique opened in July 2016, it launched a unique partnership model. Local nonprofits would be selected as grant beneficiaries and invited to team with Boutique volunteers for a specific period of time. Through this partnership, nonprofits could increase awareness of their mission, contribute volunteer support, and become eligible for grant funding.

Ten years later, that vision continues to guide PCCP.

A Decade of Giving Back

By 2026, PCCP Resale Boutique has awarded more than $285,000 to nonprofit organizations serving our local community.

That number represents far more than dollars. It represents food, clothing, senior support, youth programs, community services, educational opportunities, emergency needs, outreach, advocacy, and countless other ways local organizations care for our neighbors.

PCCP also supports local students through service scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to high school students who live in the area and donate at least 40 hours of volunteer time. In this way, the Boutique not only supports the next generation financially but also encourages a lifelong commitment to service.

Every grant and every scholarship begins with something simple: a donation, a volunteer hour, a purchase, or a neighbor choosing to support the community through the Boutique.

Powered Entirely by Volunteers

One of the most remarkable things about PCCP Resale Boutique is that it remains a totally volunteer organization.

There is no paid staff. Everyone who participates gives their time, energy, and expertise because they believe in the mission.

From sorting donations and arranging displays to assisting shoppers, coordinating volunteers, reviewing grant applications, maintaining the shop, and serving on the board, PCCP exists because local people choose to show up for one another.

That volunteer spirit is the heart of the Boutique.

It reflects what makes mountain communities special: people working together, sharing resources, and using their individual skills to support the greater good.

More Than a Resale Shop

Over the past 10 years, PCCP Resale Boutique has grown into a unique community presence in Bailey.

The Boutique offers furniture, collectibles, décor, household goods, clothing, and other donated treasures. But for many people, it has also become something more: a welcoming space to connect.

Neighbors stop in to shop, donate, volunteer, visit, share stories, learn about local nonprofits, and discover ways to get involved. In a rural mountain community where connection matters, PCCP has become a hub of generosity and belonging.

Every item on the shelf carries a larger purpose. Every purchase helps keep the mission moving forward. Every person who walks through the door becomes part of a bigger community story.

A Board Rooted in Service

Behind the scenes, PCCP is guided by a dedicated volunteer board made up of local residents committed to serving their neighbors.

Their work goes far beyond typical retail management. They help steward donations, coordinate operations, support volunteers, foster partnerships, and create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who visits the Boutique.

Over the years, PCCP has also been home to multiple Gracie Award-winning volunteers, a local recognition for service presented by the Platte Canyon Area Chamber of Commerce.

These honors reflect the deep commitment, generosity, and community spirit found throughout the PCCP volunteer family.

A Community Effort Worth Celebrating

As we celebrate 10 years of PCCP Resale Boutique, we also celebrate everyone who has helped make this story possible.

We celebrate the founders who saw a need and dared to build something new.

We celebrate the volunteers who have given thousands of hours of service.

We celebrate the donors who have trusted PCCP with their gently used items.

We celebrate the shoppers who choose to spend locally and support a greater mission.

We celebrate the nonprofit partners who work every day to serve our mountain community.

We celebrate the students who give their time and carry the spirit of service forward.

Most of all, we celebrate the community that continues to believe in partnership.

Looking Ahead

What began around a dining room table in 2016 has become a lasting example of what can happen when neighbors come together with purpose.

Ten years later, PCCP Resale Boutique remains true to its name and its mission. It is a place of partnership, generosity, sustainability, service, and connection.

As we look ahead to the next decade, we do so with gratitude for the past and excitement for the future.
